Elite in-state safety to visit Florida State on Saturday

Once again, Florida State is preparing for a big weekend of visits from its top targets. One of them will be 2028 blue-chip safety Cyion Smith out of Blountstown, Florida.

“I’ll be in tally this weekend!!,” Smith said on social media.

Smith is making his second trip to Tallahassee this year, as he was on campus for a Junior Day event in January. He also took three visits to see FSU in 2025, and he visited twice in 2024.

Florida State is trying to flip Smith from Mississippi State. Miami, South Carolina, Auburn, and West Virginia are also doing their best to steal the 6-foot-2, 175-pounder away from the Bulldogs.

It’s been back-to-back productive for Smith. He registered 64 tackles, one tackle for loss, four interceptions, 12 pass breakups, one forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries as a freshman. Smith put up 50 tackles, four tackles for loss, seven interceptions, 10 pass breakups, and one fumble recovery during his sophomore campaign.

Smith is listed as the No. 276 overall recruit and the No. 16 safety in the country per the Rivals industry rankings. He’s also ranked as the No. 33 prospect in the state of Florida.
